Asian Ribs


1/3 cup soy sauce
2 TB dry sherry
2 TB hoisin sauce
1 TB vegetable oil
1 tsp

1 clove garlic
1/4 tsp pepper
3 pounds meaty pork spareribs or loin back ribs


For marinade, combine soy sauce, sherry, hoisin sauce, vegetable oil,

Spices Chinese Five Spice
, garlic, and pepper. Place ribs in plastic bag set into a
shallow dish. Pour marinade over ribs; close bag. Marinate in the refrigerator 4 hours
or overnight, turning bag occasionally to distribute marinade.

Remove ribs from marinade, reserving marinade. Place ribs in centre of cooking
grate. Grill 1 to 1-1/2 hours or until tender, brushing with reserved marinade during
the last 20 minutes of grilling time. To serve, cut ribs into 2- or 3-rib portions.
