Cooking Tips

What you need to
know about Pork
Boneless Pork Loin
  • Cut it at home into roasts and freeze in ziplock freezer bags.
  • General rule: 1” for children, 2” for adults, so a family with 2 adults and 3 children
would cut the meat 7” wide.
  • The meat can be used as a roast, cut into pork chops, kabobs, stir-fry, or pulled BBQ
    pork.
  • A good price is less than $2.00/lb

Baby Back Ribs
  • Wrap in foil and bake in an oven for 2-3 hours at 300 degrees.  Let it cool, then grill,
    basting with BBQ sauce.

Pork Tenderloin
  • A good price is less than $5/lb.  Marinate and grill or bake.   After cooking you can
slice it and use it in a salad.

Ham
  • Buy a whole ham on sale and have the butcher slice it into a few 1” steaks and ham
pieces.  You can bake the ham pieces, use them for soup or slice them to fry for
    breakfast.
